Fiscal Court Clerk

The County Clerk of any Kentucky County has the option of serving as the Clerk of the Fiscal Court.  In counties where the County Clerk declines to serve as the Fiscal Court Clerk, the Fiscal Court appoints its own clerk to serve at its pleasure.

The Letcher County Fiscal Court meets at 6:30pm on the third Monday of each month. The Fiscal Court Clerk must attend all meetings of the Fiscal Court, keep a full and correct record of its proceedings, attest to official documents approved by the court, and perform such other duties as the Fiscal Court may prescribe.

The Fiscal Court is a court of record. In Letcher County, the Fiscal Court is made up of the County Judge/Executive and five magistrates representing five magisterial districts. Minutes of the proceedings of each meeting shall be prepared and submitted for approval at the next succeeding meeting.  Every official action of the Fiscal Court shall be made a part of the permanent records of the county and filed in the office of the Letcher County Clerk.  The County Budget Ordinance and all other County Ordinances shall be on file in the County Clerk’s Office.
