Threat or actual release of a Hazardous Material should be reported through 911 or local fire department.
Responds to all Hazardous Materials incidents for the purpose of containment of materials that may pose a threat to health or property. Haz-Mat 10 is staffed with volunteers from different fire departments in Letcher County who have taken extensive training to be recognized as Hazardous Materials Technicians and are certified and qualified to respond to any Hazardous Materials incident. It was originally formed as the Regional Response Team in 2005.
A Hazardous Material is any substance that has a potential, when released, to cause harm to the health of people, harm the environment or damage property.
